Hitman is a 2007 French-American action thriller film directed by Xavier Gens and based on the video game series of the same name. The story revolves around Agent 47, a professional hitman, who was raised from birth to be an assassin by the group known as "The Organization". He becomes ensnared in a political conspiracy and finds himself pursued by both Interpol and Russian intelligence. The film stars Timothy Olyphant and Dougray Scott and was released on November 21, 2007. Though critically not well-received, it was a financial success, grossing $100 million against a $24 million budget.
